Delete a Fade - Pro Tools

How to delete a fade:

Method 1

  • Left click in the bottom half of the fade area to select it.

  • Press the DEL (delete) key on your keyboard.

OR

  • Right click the selected fade area and choose "Delete Fades" from the menu.

Method 2

  • Select a section within the clip that includes the fade area.

  • Press the DEL (delete) key on your keyboard.

To make a selection within a track:

  • Press and hold down your left mouse button.
  • Drag your mouse/edit cursor in the direction you want to select.
  • Release your left mouse button once you've made your selection.

ALTERNATIVE

Enable "Commands Keyboard Focus" instead of using the DEL key to delete a fade.

Click on the a/z button to enable Commands Keyboard Focus shortcuts. It is located in the upper right hand corner of the Pro Tools Edit window directly above the vertical scroll bar. (see image below)

Next:

  • Left click in the bottom half of the fade area to select it.
  • Press the "d" key on your keyboard to delete the selected fade area.
